Forest Melody - Featured artwork by *NightsVayne



Narrative
Imagine a full-moon night deep within a majestic forest. The wolves gather around a fire for a ritual dance. Then, a wolf of gold fur, shining brighter than the sun appears out of the trees with a white bone flute. As she begins to play a melody so haunting, THUNDER APPEARS FROM THE SKY. The pack begins to dance! Wildly-moving shadows are cast onto the forest backdrop. The moon then begins to retreat back into the horizon; the pack disappears as strangely as they came. This is the legend of the Forest Melody.

Behind the music
After forcing a few of my fellow composers to give me some ethereal-sounding reverb presets, I created the melody you hear in the beginning. Next thing I knew I was adding percussion and taiko drums and playing my duduk. Lastly, I really wanted to have a nice visual component for the composition. I found *NightsVayne who created an artwork she named Forest Melody. I then named my composition after her art. The story about the Forest Melody legend (above) was inspired by the art and the music.
